Videolab
Videolab explores analog and experimental filmmaking through a Sony DCR-HC18E camcorder. Although the camera records digitally, it stores footage on analog tape, offering a unique set of limitations and possibilities. The project approaches these devices with curiosity rather than nostalgia, uncovering new forms through earlier cinematic methods. By embracing the qualities of tape recording, it challenges the pursuit of sharper, clearer images and values artistic expression over technical precision. Guided by a manifesto, Videolab follows strict criteria: filming exclusively with the camcorder, keeping footage on cassette, and creating new experimental videos through performance-based scores.

Cloud Archaeology
By Elin Aspfors and Weronika GrecSince the Blue Marble, images of Earth have evolved from a single-perspective snapshot to a complex, browsable map. Based on satellite and aerial imagery, services like Google Maps offer a seemingly cloud-free, daylit view of the world. In reality, the atmosphere is a shifting sea of clouds, a vital part of our planet’s ecosystem. This new image is made possible by computed processes such as cloud masking.
Cloud Archaeology reimagines satellite imagery creation to include time and cloud cover. Clouds are outlined and extracted by hand from Landsat 8 data, reconstructed as layered maps revealing the superposition of time. The usually discarded clouds are rescued as artifactual images where meteorological phenomena and ground are combined.

The Energy Atlas: A visual Exploration
Publication curated by Studio OffshoreAn image exploration of pre- and post- human disaster, city of Chernobyl.
“As a part of our human-made systems, we treat the natural world as a commodity to satisfy our needs. This condition is most often exclusive to the needs of other beings, which becomes evident in a situation where humans have abandoned their homes. Whitout human control, the trees, plants, and animals will start crossing the borders that kept our communities parted.”
