Performance
[Videolab] is a project centered on exploring analog and experimental filmmaking. Using a Sony DCR-HC18E camcorder, the focus of the project is on how to create video footage while developing a unique visual language in film.
The project's experiments adhere to a manifesto which includes a set of criteria. The criteria help build a grid to work within so the filming itself remains experimental. The manifesto guides the use of the camcorder exclusively, keeping the videos on the cassette, and avoiding post-editing in software. The performance scores found for each experiment was in the first part intuitively collected, and in the second part systematically used to create new experimental videos.
